
Background
Joe Valley was a beloved and revered member of the Father Judge Cross Country / Track & Field (XCTF) community who passed away in March 2021. Joe was a FJHS student and member of XCTF team from 1961-1965, a faculty member from 1974-1986, head coach of the XCTF teams from 1970-1981, head coach of the 1975 PCL Track & Field Championship team, a pioneer of the Track & Athletic Complex in 1975, founder of the Father Judge Relays in 1976, and an inaugural inductee to the XCTF Hall of Fame in 2012. Far beyond these accomplishments, Joe was a friend, teacher, coach, mentor, and leader who positively impacted hundreds of young men at Father Judge. He will live in our hearts forever as a true Salesian Gentleman and Judge Guy.
The Joe Valley Memorial Award has been established to honor his legacy.
Purpose
The purpose of the Joe Valley Memorial Award is to give young men the opportunity to benefit from a Father Judge education and experience by providing financial assistance to deserving Cross Country and Track & Field student-athletes.
